Common questions
Can ChatGPT and Claude answer from our Elium content?
Yes. Elium supports the Model Context Protocol (MCP), the open standard those assistants use to reach data held elsewhere. Once an administrator has connected them, the assistant searches your spaces and reads articles while you chat.
Can an assistant see content the person is not allowed to open?
No. Every request runs with the permissions of the person who signed in, so an assistant only reaches what that person could already open in Elium.
Can a connected assistant change anything in Elium?
Only if you allow it. Writing is off by default, and our support team enables it for your platform. An assistant can then create an article or edit an existing one, always with the rights of the person signed in. New articles are saved as drafts by default, and edits are always saved as drafts. Your usual approval rules apply before anything is published. There is no action to delete an article.
What happens with very long articles?
Articles longer than 150,000 characters are shortened, and the assistant is given a link to read the full version in Elium.
