Carbon footprint
As part of our drive to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, we have drawn up an ambitious action plan to cut them.
Every year, we commission the German company Global Changer to carry out a carbon audit.
Since 2021, we have put in place actions such as replacing company cars with a mobility plan, implementing a teleworking policy that has reduced our office space by 66%, and consolidating our IT infrastructure in 2 ‘green’ data centres.
These initiatives have enabled us to reduce our CO2 (market based) emissions from 62,3 tonnes in 2021 to 54,7 tonnes in 2022.
Our CSR scoring
To formalise our ambition and measure our progress, we have joined the EcoVadis network.
EcoVadis mission is to provide reliable, globally recognised sustainability ratings and insights, enabling all companies to reduce risk, drive improvement and accelerate positive impact on our planet and society.
An initial assessment made in June 2022 gave us a global score of 45, in line with the market average.
The next measurement will take place in the next few weeks. Stay tuned!
Social team contributions
Taking a day off work is always a welcomed break from the daily grind. It can also be a way to give back to the community. Donating our time to a charity or non-profit organization can be incredibly rewarding, and can make a real difference in the lives of those in need. 💖
As part of our Coral programme, the company offers the possibility to all Eliumers to take one extra day off per year to help a good cause. It’s also the occasion for a team building activity since we encourage the Eliumers to do it in small groups.
After a participatory selection process, 3 non-profit organisations were selected:
– Natagora, where we can participate in the maintenance of a natural habitat managed by this highly respected organisation
– Help Animals, where we can assist the feeding of abandoned or badly treated animals (sheep, cats, goats, pigs, cows, horses) and help with the cleaning of their enclosures.
– Oxfam, the charitable organisation focusing on the alleviation of global poverty where we will help sorting and distributing food and clothing.
The first activities are currently being organised and will take place in late summer or early autumn.
The Nethen sandpit, owned by the Commune of Grez-Doiceau, became a new Natagora nature reserve in 2022 following the signing of a management agreement between the Commune and the non-profit association.
The entire Elium team went there in March 2024 to help with maintenance work.
A team lunch and seminar at the Froidmont’s farm, where unemployed adults are trained in catering and organic market gardening for socio-professional inclusion. The approach focuses on ecological transition and sustainability, offering healthy, environmentally-friendly food.
This dynamism and nutrition workshop provided the Elium’s team with practical tools and strategies to enhance their vitality and well-being through practical nutrition advice.
