About this integration
Add Elium as a custom connector in ChatGPT, so it can search your knowledge base during a conversation. Elium supports the Model Context Protocol (MCP), so ChatGPT connects over OAuth. Every request runs as the signed-in user, so ChatGPT only sees content that person is allowed to see, and answers cite their source.
What you get
Search Elium in ChatGPT
Query your knowledge base directly inside a conversation.
Permissions respected
Each request runs as the signed-in user and sees only their content.
Live, cited answers
ChatGPT reads up-to-date content and links back to the source.
Common questions
Can ChatGPT search our Elium content?
Yes. Elium supports the Model Context Protocol (MCP), the open standard ChatGPT uses to reach sources held elsewhere. Once the connection is in place, you search your platform from a ChatGPT conversation.
What does setting it up involve?
An administrator creates a connected app in Elium, then adds Elium as a connector in ChatGPT using your platform address and OAuth. You may need to switch on developer mode in the connector settings first.
Will ChatGPT see content someone cannot open?
No. The connection runs with the permissions of the person signed in, so it only reaches what they could already open in Elium. It is also read-only: nothing can be created, edited or deleted.
How settled is this connection?
Custom Model Context Protocol connectors are still being developed on the ChatGPT side, so the steps there can change. The Elium side of the connection is unaffected.
