Elium offers three paths: connect an assistant over MCP, pull relevant extracts with semantic search, or ask Elium AI directly for a generated answer. All of them respect user permissions and read live content.

Common questions
Can we feed Elium into our own chatbot without copying the content?
Yes. There are three routes: connect an assistant over MCP, call semantic search for the relevant extracts, or ask Elium AI for a written answer with its sources. All three read live content, so there is no synchronised copy to maintain.
Which route do you recommend for a production system?
Semantic search. It is the route Elium recommends when a custom system needs relevant results, data security and room to grow.
Does querying Elium AI directly send data outside Elium?
That route calls a language model hosted on Azure OpenAI, which can matter for your data-processing rules. The semantic search route calls no language model at all.
Can we limit a connection to one assistant's scope?
Yes. A semantic search call can be restricted to the scope of a Smart Assistant.
