Microsoft Excel

Preview and co-edit Excel sheets inside Elium: tabs, formulas and formatting preserved.

About this integration

Excel workbooks stored in an Elium article can be edited in place, without downloading anything. A contributor clicks the file, opens it in Excel for the web, and edits in the browser. Changes save back to the file on Elium automatically, and several people can work on the same workbook at once.

What you get

Edit in place

Open and edit an Excel file straight from an article, in your browser.

Real-time co-editing

Several people can edit the same workbook at once.

Saved automatically

Changes are written back to the file on Elium, with no manual save.

Common questions

Can we edit spreadsheets without leaving Elium?

Yes. An Excel file opens in Office for the web straight from the article, and changes are saved as you go. Editing needs a Microsoft 365 Business licence. Reading does not.

Are the cell contents searchable?

Yes. Elium indexes standard files, down to the cells of an Excel file.

Who switches the integration on?

An administrator, from the integrations page of the admin panel.

Can two people work on the same file?

Yes, at the same time, in Office for the web.
